Something to Keep Baby Warm

I meant to finish this sweater before Audrey arrived, but we had a little baby boom in our family which meant that I spent much of the summer knitting as fast as I could.  The little blue sweater is a variation of the five hour baby sweater (without the lacy holes at the top), and the rose-colored sweater was made following this pattern.  I used a slightly smaller yarn (Naturally Caron Country--I love the feel of this yarn--used it for so many other projects!) than the pattern called for which resulted in the sweater being a bit smaller and looser.

I just finished Audrey's sweater, and as you can see, she will still fit into it for a little while (whew!).  This time, I used the same yarn, but knit it using a size 9 needle.

We are expecting another cousin to arrive in August, so I must get knitting again!

Hello Again!

I haven't posted in such a long time....So much has happened in the past ten months and the time has flown by!  Our family has been on a trip to Washington, D.C. and visited the West Wing.  We've watched Kelsey graduate from fifth grade and begin middle school.  Maddie finished kindergarten and became a first grader who eats lunch at school and stays all day at school.  Once again we hosted our annual Fourth of July family party.  (Kelsey and Grandma weren't actually there this year as they were on a road trip up to Oregon.)  We took a trip to San Diego to visit a relative and ended up staying in a beautiful home that belongs to an astronaut and his wife.  Marja became a teenager.  We've celebrated John's 40th with friends and family on a lovely fall afternoon.

Perhaps the most significant event during my absence (and the one that has occupied the most amount of my time) has been this one:

We welcomed Audrey Marie on November 18th at 6:22AM.  She weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 19 3/4 inches.

She is already 3 months old today.  Those three months have passed by quickly, and yet it feels like such a long time ago because so much has changed in our home and our family.  I love watching the older girls dote on their little sister.  All of Maddie's worries and concerns about having a new baby in the family seem to have evaporated.  And Audrey FEELS like she is an integral part of our family.
